Charlottesville, VA's Cappellino's Crazy Cakes is the brainchild of brother-and-sister team Frank and Dotty Cappellino. Featuring over 20 flavors of cupcakes that are as delicious as they are beautiful, Cappellino's is quickly becoming known as Charlottesville's premiere cupcake bakery. scroll for more...On Charlottesville's Historic Downtown Mall, Cappellino's is the place to go for cupcakes or cookies, whether it be for an impromptu treat or a large order for that special occasion. Everything at Cappellino's is made from scratch, and the beautiful sugar fondant decorations are made by hand.The recipes at Cappellino's have been, for the most part, handed down from Dotty and Frank's father, James Vincent Cappellino, who was an accomplished chef and chocolatier in Pittsburgh. Dotty has a successful history as a baker, specializing in poundcakes that sold at Charlottesville retailers such as The Greenwood Store and Foods of All Nations. Frank had a thriving specialty cake business in Florida, but Dotty convinced Frank to relocate to Charlottesville and open this joint venture, which has been satisfying the sweet tooth of Charlottesvillians ever since.

We like living on the edge & love the challenge. Some cookies come from family Italian recipes and some are just made up! Cookies that will come out of hiding ares: pignolia (almond cookie w/pine nuts), Italian wedding, Italian spice cookie with an orange glaze, chocolate peppermint, white chocolate butterscotch... and so much more!

We will bake up custom cupcakes for ANY special occasion. Give us a call to arrange a unique and delicious cupcake for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, bar/bat mitzvas, retirements, holidays and more!3 dozen or more cupcakes and/or cookies is considered a “"special order." scroll for more...We will be happy to customize any cupcake for you, but we need at least 1 week's notice. Sugar work is what we pride ourselves on, and sometimes, well... love takes time. All sugar work (fondant) is made individually and by hand. There will be an extra charge - it all depends on design and labor. Please call or come by the shop and talk to us, we will be happy to assist you with ideas, colors and your budget. Fondant work is limitless - a business logo, sea bass, yoga mats & horses... you name it and can be made! For special sugar work, we need at least 2 weeks notice.For delivery, at least a 24 hour notice would be helpful. If you find you need a dozen delivered that day, call us, if it’s possible, we will do it.Wedding cupcakes will require a date with Frank Cappellino. Please call the shop to set up a meeting to discuss your special day and have a tasting of our cupcakes.Delivery for weddings will be $30. We do not set up your wedding, but we can assist you in making sure your venue is prepared to display your beautiful cupcakes.If you are looking for 3 dozen or more from our cookie menu, please give us at least 2 weeks notice; everything is made from scratch! Our weeks fill up quickly, so you can never call too early!We take credit cards AND deliver! No delivery charge for the downtown mall businesses.

FAQs
How long will my cupcakes last?Cupcakes should be enjoyed the day that they are purchased. If this is not possible, they can last up to two days at the most, stored in an air tight container.Why so short of a life span?We do not use preservatives or additives of any kind, so try to enjoy your goodies the day of. Do you ship your cupcakes?No, we do not ship our cupcakes. Our cookies however can be shipped.scroll for more...Can I put my cupcakes in the refrigerator?Our cupcakes do not like the refrigerator! The refrigerator will dry the cake out and make the decorations very soft.Can I freeze my cupcakes?Yes! Our cupcakes will last in the freezer for months. Take your cupcakes out at least 4 hours before you are ready to serve them at room temperature. Do you have Vegan or Gluten Free cupcakes or cookes?No.Do you sell sugar free cupcakes or cookies?No.Do you bake with peanut products?We do not use peanut oil of any kind. However, we do have nuts and peanut products in the shop. If you have an extreme allergy to nuts of any kind, we like to err on the side of caution and ask that you do not purchase a goodie for safety reasons.Do you deliver?Yes, we do. We ask for a dozen minimum and there will be a $10 delivery fee for the surrounding area of Charlottesville. If you are located on the Downtown Mall, delivery is free. If you live more than 15 miles from our shop, there will be an additional fee.Do you have gift certificates?Yes we do. Do you write on your cupcakes?No, we dont, but we can add a sugar fondant plaque with whatever message you would like..its all edible (no additional cost) & it comes with glitter on it!
